YOUR VALUE GIVES YOU A SEAT

Reference text: 2 Kings 24:8-17

“People who are valuable will always appear to have the upper hand”. This sounds harsh, but indeed it is a harsh truth that should be understood and paid attention to. I always remember verbatim these words in a message I listened to: ‘the seat of greatness has so been designed that you have to present what you have to offer, this is vetted and a seat which matches that value is offered.

We realise from our reference text that in times of war, even hostages were not valued the same. Thus, not everyone was killed or carried off into Babylon. The selection followed a very defined criteria with ‘people of value’ seemingly being offered a seat before anyone else. Why? Because they had something to offer even in exile.

This is a hard message, but it only comes along to nudge us towards becoming valuable. Not necessarily becoming indispensable, but certainly becoming difficult to replace.
