A PURPOSE FOR EVERYTHING
Isaiah 55:11 So shall My word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: It shall not return unto Me void, Except it accomplish that which I please, And make the thing whereto I sent it prosper.
Among the words that have the ability to dampen spirits, many arise when the suffix ‘less’ is added to the end of the root word: ‘useless’, ‘aimless’, ‘purposeless’… The list could go on and on.
But reflecting on it today, there really couldn’t be ‘a purposeless’ person, event or encounter. Perhaps, not discovered, but there will be a reason behind everything that happens, every situation we encounter and for every person we meet.
We may therefore classify things or people as ‘purposeless and useless’ only because we have not been beneficiaries of their skills or acknowledged their purpose. Is that lesson a nugde? Is that experience a lesson for improvement or a timely warning? Did that encounter help you relate better with another? Is that door closed for a reason?
Even the things that cause us disappointment, hurt and pain, a list we would rather avoid; have purposes to serve.
