WHO WATCHES OVER YOUR HOUSE?
With increased threats to global security, it has become a norm for world leaders to have an array of escorts intended for their defense and protection. Saul in searching for David went with 3000 men. These men were intended to be his search party, his defensive shield in case he was attacked and his spears for fending off intruders.
At least this might have been what he thought until David waltzed unnoticed right into midst of their camp making his way unhindered to the King’s side; only that he refused to slay Saul. Unsurprisingly, he had help: ‘No one saw, and no one knew, because no one was awake. They were all asleep, because a deep sleep from the LORD had fallen over the entire army’ (1 Sam 26:12).
So while you might think you have found rest in your very own resources or wealth, it is worth pondering on who built that house of yours and who is watching over it. If your answer is ‘me myself’, now might be the time to hand things over’. Not that the guarding won’t be done, only that the intended end will not be realised for “Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, the watchmen stand guard uselessly and in vain ( Psalm 127:1) “
