DAY 341 OF 365 IN 2021

WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Matthew 18:12 What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?
The disciples in truth were no where near the stature of Jesus for a valid comparison to be made. Of course while we are talking about ‘a man like them’, that same man was the ‘Word made flesh’. He was the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his likeness, the very the wisdom of God himself speaking and yet He asks them ‘what do you think?’
We will read in John’s Gospel regarding a situation where Jesus poses a question about the crowd they had out in the wilderness. He turned to Philip and asked him: “Where can we buy bread to feed all these people? Later on we read ‘He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do’ (John 6:5-6)
So we begin to wonder, why does Jesus pose such thought-provoking questions when it seems He had a clear idea what ought to be done? In effect, that was him saying ‘I am picking your mind too’.
Beloved, there is room for people who are ‘lower down a chain’ to make suggestions that contribute to making a necessary improvement. It is important that we learn to solicit their thoughts about some matters, it makes a difference.
