WEIGHED AGAINST THE SCALES

DAY 328 OF 365 IN 2021

WEIGHED AGAINST THE SCALES

In the book of Daniel today, we read about the writings on the wall while king Belshazzar drank with his Lords.
The whole encounter is one that would have been a sight to behold considering what happened to the king:

Then the king’s face grew pale, and his thoughts alarmed him; the joints and muscles of his hips an back weakened and his knees began knocking together (Dan 5:6)".

That seemed a combination of dread, fear, and anxiety. Yet, it is the interpretation offered to the king that sounded an alarm in my ears:” ‘Tekel’ means that you have been weighed on the balance and found deficient.”(Daniel 5:27)

The very fact that he was found deficient means there was a standard  against which this measurement was done, there was a point of reference. We can each look back at our lives and think we can live as we wish, that we are our own standard and marking scheme. However, we cannot forget that we are being measured against a standard.

Beloved, when found deficient or lacking, we know we have a refinery to go through for purification so we measure up to standard. End story is we are not our own yardsticks for there is the standard of Christ against which we will all be weighed.
