DAY 321 OF 365 IN 2021

MORE THAN MONEY
Luke 19:13 Calling ten of his servants, he gave them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Engage in business until I come.’
The servants in today’s text had no business idling about while their king was gone because they were to do business. Idleness is thus not one of the things expected of the believer. But this should not be confused
with ‘being still’, for the two are some distance apart.
It is interesting also that this master asked them to ‘do business until he came back’ without specifying the nature of gains he was expecting. By default then, the clear and obvious expectation which would have been the focus would be monetary. In which case the gains would have been for the master and perhaps, that was what they thought as the primary expectation.
However, it is important not just to classify gains in monetary terms because their gains could have been more than just money. They could have acquired contacts, connections experiences or other valuable lessons from doing business. All those would qualify as gains. It was for this reason that upon his return, he inquired what gains they had made.
So I ask you too ‘what gains are you making in your business? Is it just monetary or are you gaining more than that?
