DAY 300 OF 365 IN 2021
THE NARROW DOOR
Luke 13:24 Strive to enter by the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able.
There is no mincing of words today, but a charge to get to work ‘make every effort to enter through the narrow door’. If it was that easy, we would just have been told to walk through the narrow door, however, the expulsion of significant energy reserves is suggested when ‘strive and effort’ are highlighted.
There are some doors one is able to enter only when they have nothing on them – no baggage at all. Even some that seem to want an individual to shed part of their self, much like the words of Jesus ‘if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off. There are some doors like that where one will fit in only after their hand has been cut off, not literally, but figuratively.
Beloved, the narrow door is that one which requires us to shed off every burden and weight that bears us down. It is the door that is intended for light weights with no extra load to enter. So whatever burdens and loads you carry, as you journey towards the narrow door, let us toss them aside lest they become a real struggle to enter in. We will surely expend some energy to get through this door, but any extra load could cost us more, even our actual entry though the doors.
