HELP IS AT HAND

DAY 289 OF 365 IN 2021

Luke 12:12 For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour and moment what [you] ought to say.

Some politicians are known for their brilliant extempore speeches. They stand on podiums and seem to know exactly what to say. Whether it is with the use of highlights or points for emphasis, each paragraph is littered with attention grabbing content. For all intents and purposes, that is the plan anyway. However, something can take away is that such brilliant speeches are often borne not just on the spot, but after hours of drafting, modification and repetition.

Even then, no matter how well you plan and rehearse then, people can always find a way to get under your skin and when they do, you will deviate from your script. And the rehearsals won’t matter. Today, God introduces himself as one who is able to offer relevant assistance.

Jesus’ words to the disciples were this ” in that very hour, the Holy Spirit will teach you what to say”. Therefore, he guaranteed that they  would receive access to on-the-spot help; situation specific information that is accurate and actionable, not input based on some prepaid or laid out plan.

Hence, we meet not just a wonderful God, but the God who is our Refuge and Strength, a VERY PRESENT and well-proved help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We meet a “dynamic God”, who adapts “His methods to the occasion and platforms where we find ourselves so help is never far away.
