DAY 272 OF 365 IN 2021

Luke 1:48 How do you know me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, “I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.”

‘How do you know me?’
Whenever we meet a person who appears to have knowledge about us that should be privy only to those who are familiar with us or more closely related to us, we are tempted to probe further to ascertain the source of their information. We read today about Nathaniel’s first encounter with Jesus and his posing of the very valid question in the opening statement which we also ask every now and then.

Yet, the one to who it was directed in context is what makes it even more interesting. His question was directed at God made flesh, Jesus. It was as He was asking His creator “How do you know me?” Jesus gave an answer that was time specific but to us, the answer to this question would be the words of the Prophet Jeremiah:

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you [and approved of you as My chosen instrument], And before you were born I consecrated you [to Myself as My own]; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”(Jer. 1:5)

God knows us through and through,  inside and outside. He knows all that concerns us and all that matters to us. He is our creator, He is our Lord and He is our shepherd hence, his delight is in knowing what goes on in our lives. He even keeps track of the very hairs on our head. Therefore, when next you ask the question Nathaniel asked, that is your answer.
