DAY 246 OF 365 IN 2021

NEW WINE, OLD WINE SKINS
Luke 5:37-39 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.
For increased legibility and avoidance of confusion, it is preferable for every board to be reset or wiped clean before new data is introduced. From whiteboards in the classroom, score boards in stadia or stop watches guiding any race, there has to be a complete reset before new information can be considered accurate.
Therefore, we often hearabout renewal and transformation: a decision to choose another pattern or system of thinking and operation that is often in clear contrast to a preexisting one. Like trying to copy the contents of a new movie unto an existing ‘rewritable storage device’. One first has to rewrite otherwise the data obtained after is erroneous, likely full of fragmented sections and distortions.
New wine must be put into new wine skins. This is not a suggestion, it is an imperative because any other action is unsuitable for preservation of both wine and skin. So we ought to consider the kind of wine skin we are as the new wine of the Spirit is poured into our vessels. We also need to become new wine skins for only then can we contain what is poured into us.
