DAY 220 OF 365 IN 2021
JUST BE KIND
We may not have had a say into what families to be born into or which parents would bring us forth, however, as far as our decisions go, we have a say in many other areas. Even as far as the spectrum of emotions go, the same is applicable – “we can be a lot of things”. Therefore, although a mixture of emotions can seem to exist in tandem, often there is a choice as to what to exhibit – one can still choose.
Today, we are provided with both sides of the table to aid us in making our choices. We are provided with a wide spectrum of all we could be depending on our choices. Our text thus speaks an entire message and the amplified version outlays the choices clearly for us:
“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor [perpetual animosity, resentment, strife, fault-finding] and slander be put away from you, along with every kind of malice [all spitefulness, verbal abuse, malevolence].
Instead, be kind and helpful to one another, tender-hearted [compassionate, understanding], forgiving one another [readily and freely], just as God in Christ also forgave you.
Beloved, among all the many things we can be towards one another, the short list above lies truly at the heart of it all. And on that note, another gentle reminder: in your thoughts, with your words and with your actions, just be kind.
