NO VALID EXCUSE

DAY 132 OF 365 IN 2021

Acts 17:30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,

‘Ignorance is no excuse’- that is a popular phrase when people fall foul of things they did not know about, it could be a rule or policy. Here is the jist: just because one does not know, does not mean the impact or effect of something are not active. You may be ignorant about gravity, but that does not mean that when you jump off the top floor of a twenty-storey building, you will remain suspended in the air. You will hit the ground.

However, in the times of ignorance, one can be given the benefit of doubt using one simple reason as the excuse ‘they did not know’. Things however take on a different twist when information comes in and we can no longer hide behind ignorance. When we receive information, ‘I didn’t know’ no longer becomes a valid reason, it becomes just an excuse that is deemed unacceptable.

Beloved, ignorance can be overlooked only to a certain extent, beyond which the consequences of one’s decisions come to birth. Let’s put it another way, not knowing could mean your approval, and as wild as this sounds, as long as things concern you, even your ignorance can be your consent.
