BEYOND THE “SENSE” REALM

DAY 25 OF 365 IN 2021

Acts 22:9 And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.

I came across a slide show about how different organisms perceive the same image depending on the mechanics of their eye and the frequencies of light waves they receive. And it was little surprise that many of these surpass the visual ability of humans.

The same is true with the sense of sound: cats are able to hear sound at frequencies three times the highest frequency a human can, and a pigeon, frequencies many times lower than that of human. Thus, in terms of physical senses alone, biologically, humans are not top of the chain.

However, in creation, it is to man that God gave dominion and tasked with naming what was created. You might wonder why this is so seeing that even physically, our ability to perceive the world around us falls behind that of other creatures. It is because we have access to a higher realm, a realm that transcends the physical senses. For bear in mind, since created in the image and likeness of God, man is a spirit, with a soul housed in a vessel called the body.

On the mount of transfiguration, Peter James and John saw two men on the mountain but no idea what they spoke to Jesus about. Likewise, the men travelling with Paul saw the light, but heard nothing. However, what Paul heard, changed his life’s trajectory completely.

My dear, what you see, is not all there is and neither is what you hear. Just as it makes perfect sense that animals with keener senses are better hunters or better at danger perception, whoever is able to tap into the dimension beyond the ordinary has an edge over another. That is a truth! When the armies of syria laid siege to Elisha and his servant panicked, he prayed ‘that the Lord might open his eyes’ and around them were host of horses and chariots of fire (2 Kings 6:14-18). The servant’s fear was because he could not see.

Sweetheart, there is information accessible beyond that which our physical senses can perceive and whosoever is equipped to tap into that dimension and realm, obtains an advantage. I pray that our senses might be opened to perceive that which is invisible to the physical senses.
