Ephesians 3:2 Surely you have heard about the administration of God’s grace that was given to me for you,
You may at some point have found yourself in a situation where after an exhortation or teaching is offered, someone walks up to you and says “that message was for me’. Also, in what appears to be a series of coincidences, individuals with particular skill sets or attitudes could find themselves perfectly placed to meet the needs and demands of a specific situation.
While the most probable diagnosis is ‘coincidence’, Paul presents another proposition – that it is by design, it has so been arranged and aligned to be so. There was a specific grace accorded Paul that was not intended to be for himself, but for the church in Ephesus because as we read in today’s chapter of his letter to them: “Surely you have heard about the administration of God’s grace that was given to me for you”.
There seems to be an emphasis on the object of that grace: ‘FOR YOU’ because it is relevant. We ought to realise that while we live, we aren’t here just for ourselves. Our lives have not been given just so it is all about us, there has to be other objects towards which our influence and the impact we make is directed. Sweetheart, there are dispensations of graces we possess that are meant for others, we only serve as custodians and stewards of those.
Sadly, many never walk into or receive these dispensations because the custodians cling unto them and even many do not realise what they have in hand to dispense. Let’s pay attention to what we have to give others.
