Colossians 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
Other versions of scripture render the above text: ‘let Christ be your doctrine’.
If we look at the definition of a doctrine as a set of beliefs and principles that are followed by a group of people, we are being charged to have one blueprint to follow, an example that supercedes all others- a person called Jesus.
Just like we can very easily proclaim ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’, we should also be very able to declare the words’ Christ is my doctrine’. If those words become an anthem, an ingrained part of our very beings which we hold fast to, we will be very well positioned to get things right.
Beloved, Christ is the embodiment of the fullness of God, the storehouse of graces and the perfect example to follow. He is the word of God, hence to make Him our doctrine is to also to make the word of God an important feature of our lives. That word is a lamp unto our feet and a guide for life. So let’s make Christ our doctrine.
