Luke 6:7 And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him.
The Pharisees watching Jesus looked out for one thing :’would he heal the paralysed man? If he did, they would accuse him’. It is interesting that scripture only provides their reaction to what would happen if he did heal him. But if he didn’t, what would have happened? Would they have praised him or would they have said about him he claims to be good but see how much he doesn’t care’
It may be a human thing but the task of trying to please everyone seems an impossible feat to attain. We will be capable of pleasing some but not all because there is always an aspect of the things we do that will displease others however good they are. The most important thing in these instances is to still focus on doing ‘what is right’ even though not all will be pleased.
My dear,
we need not live only to gain approval from or to please others for that could very well turn out to be a quest that never ends.
