HOW MUCH IS GOD WORTH TO YOU?

Reference text: Matthew 13:44-46

Matthew 13:44 The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

‘When someone offers you everything you ever dreamed of, but does not offer you God, then he hasn’t given you enough’. In simpler terms,

‘whoever does not give God, gives too little’

These words have the potential to spark quite a bit of a debate considering the fact that there isn’t a suitable system in place to measure how much God and His Kingdom are worth to the believer. However, all indications hint that its value would likely be inestimable.

In fact, it is deemed so valuable that on the two occasions mentioned in the Gospel, it cost the men who found it ‘everything they owned’. To find God, they searched really hard and to gain him, they sold all they had. So if I were to ask you ‘how much are you willing to pay for God?’ or even yet, what are you willing to give up to gain Him? What answer will you offer?

Interestingly, you will be surprised to know that the things you have to sell, those very things you are required to offer in exchange for the things of God; are things you can do without. They will not subtract from you, but are God’s way of saying ‘create more room in you so you can have more of Me’.

Beloved,

God neither requires of us anything that we do not have nor does He take from us to make us smaller. He only seeks us to handover to Him those things that hinder us from reaching Him, the pearl of inestimable value.
