Matthew 5:46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
Some time ago, there was news of an accounting graduate who after nearly a 100 job applications with no success, took matters into his own hands. He printed multiple copies of his CV, walked to three of the biggest train stations in the UK and handed them to some commuters. Long story short, within three days, he had been interviewed and offered a job.
Some will say he got lucky, but what we cannot deny is the fact that he did what others were not doing- he did more. That was what Jesus mentioned in the Gospel today: the fact that sometimes we have to more than the bare minimum. If its studying, do so more than everybody else, if its praying, pray harder than everyone else or if it is loving, be called a person of love and love more.
Beloved, the key difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the ‘EXTRA’. So when within your capability, strive to do more, more than what everybody else is doing. Not just, because you want to outdo anyone, but because it is within your ability to. Do not settle for ordinary when you can do extraordinary, do not do less when you can do more.
