Reference text: Genesis 9:1-13

Genesis 9:2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.

Except for those visiting England for the first time, the public address systems on the underground train network literally repeats the very same warnings and information repeatedly, except on those occasions when something new is heard due to a fault or problem on any tube line. Therefore, for those who already know to ‘stand on the right or walk on the left’ while using the escalator, why must they keep hearing the same thing repeatedly? Short answer: it is only a reminder.

When we look at the first part of God’s blessing to Noah: ‘Be fruitful, and multiply and replenish the earth’, we will see that this was the exact same words used to bless Adam in the garden, but there was twist in the second part of His pronouncement. While Adam was told to also subdue and have dominion over everything, Noah was INFORMED that everything was already subject to him. There was the difference.

God did not have to reestablish the authority or have him work again for it! It was already an established fact and reality that Noah and his children only had to live out; it was a reminder of who they were as well as what access and authority they had. But I guess sometimes we forget: we forget that we have authority. We forget that situations are not just to overwhelm us, we forget who we are and what we have.

Consequently, we live subject to everything else when our lived reality should be the reverse. Sweetheart, God does not have to repeat Himself, it is up to us to live out what He has already spoken about us.
