Reference text: John 3:22-30
John 3:23 And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.
Recently, information about the safest cars one could buy the past year was released. One look at the list and I wondered how many would be prompted to use it as a buying guide considering the ‘numbers’ involved in relation to cost. Therefore, although safety is key, many see it as ‘one of’ the many factors considered before a vehicle is purchased, not ‘the only one’; comfort, affordability, brand name etc. all come into play.
So today, as we read about John the Baptist, in his name we have an idea of his role – he baptised. To succeed therefore, one thing that was required was ‘WATER’, hence his location in Aenon near Salim. This word ‘Aenon’ is translated as ‘springs’ thus, drawing our minds to the strategic positioning of John to ensure that he had access to what was needed most to succeed in his role.
Beloved, have you asked yourself these question yet: To stand any chance of being successful in my role:
1. where do I need to be?
2. what do I need to have? and
3. who do I need to be with?
Sweetheart, location, resources and people; will always play a part in whatever success story we can chalk. So do make yourself available to be guided by the Lord towards springs of water and to people who will have an influence on what you ought to be doing.
