Reference text: Psalm 24
Psalms 24:1 The earth is the LORD’s, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
While in school, some house masters were known to be very close fisted when it came to handing out Exeats: a signed permission note that allowed students to leave school temporarily. At times, it felt almost as though these permissions were being rationed. Hence, when there was news of a system that would allow house masters to move between houses after a term or two, there were mixed reactions from many students.
Today’s text is not about seeking permission from any human to step out of a tiny environment, but a revelation of the kind of access we have to the whole world. God is introduced as the one to whom the earth belongs: its fullness and all in it. Therefore, we who are his own, need not be concerned about who has the rights and authority to give us what we seek because that is for God to do.
We should be clearly confident also in asking because we know that the one to whom all things belong, is God and not man. Sweetheart, just in case the pressures of this life and the worries of each passing day may have caused you to forget, today we are reminded of who is really in charge. And because its Him, we have lost our reason to worry.
Remember # the Lord reigns, let the earth be glad.
