Mark 9:50 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltiness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.

Picture this scene: someone had an item caught in the wheel of their bike as they cycled, causing them to literally fall face-flat on the ground, but with no visible injuries. As if by plan, two groups of people passed by- the first, had a good laugh at the sight, walked on, turned around and laughed some more. While the second group, only asked if he was okay and walked on without waiting for a reply.

By carefully looking at these actions, one can see some of the faces of people when they witness others in a tough situation. That first group, represents a rather broad majority of people who seem to find delight in the embarrassing and difficult situations of others. All they do is laugh at the failure and disappointments of others but will do nothing about them. With such people, do not associate.

The second group, only followed social convention to make an enquiry, but they were actually not interested in the events that had happened. These are two-faced individuals, hypocrites who pretend to be interested in the things that concern us, but from deep within; are only doing so because that is what custom requires. There is no heart behind their actions and such people will have no problem leaving you in the middle of your problems when a better opportunity arises. With such people, be careful.

A rarer group that never showed up, should have been the group that would not only be genuinely concerned about the state of the fallen cyclist, but will also have made the effort to help him back to his feet. Many of us seem to forget this aspect and do not incorporate it into our actions. Not surprisingly, most people are never able to make it back to their standing position when they fall because they find themselves surrounded by mockery and hypocrisy, not hands stretched out to help them back up.

My dear, it’s time for some real Christians to arise and pull others up too.

Remember # Do not mock those who have fallen, be the child of your father in heaven and reach out to them.
