GET TO WHERE YOU BELONG

Reference text: Acts 5:17-26

Acts 5:23 Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within.

The background to today’s text comes down to a decision taken in a fit of jealousy, leading to the arrest of the Apostles. God’s response to this was to dispatch an Angel to get them out – in a very sophisticated prison break that left no evidence behind. As the text reads: Everything else was intact – the locks and the guards inclusive, but the Apostles behind bars were no where to be found.

The facts: they did not belong there in prison! God was of the view that their time was being wasted in that space hence the ‘lets get you out of there’ approach. Beloved, there are some places, you don’t belong to and some people you do not belong with hence God’s decision to trigger a change in location and you can trust Him to go all out to do this with you.

Often in such situations, we find ourselves up in arms against God because we want to stay exactly where he doesn’t want us to. There was something the Apostles had to do: to speak the words of life to others and that could not be done from within the four walls of a prison cell. My dear, what you have to do may be too big for where you are currently located thus God’s push to get you somewhere else where you can blossom. A place from which you can shine forth and in the company of people who will help you do so.

So stop ‘fighting’ with God when all He really wants is for you to do well. Sweetheart, just as those words of life were meant for other people, likewise for the sake of others; God needs you stepping up and expanding. You may not be asked to get into a temple to preach, but what you have to do is crucial to the people God has placed in your life hence you cannot afford to stay inside when the doors are open wide.

Remember # there are places in which you do not belong.
