Easter Sunday: 1st April, 2018
Reference text: John 20:1-9
John 20:2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the LORD out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.
Every Easter, we come across these same texts over and over again, yet, their ability to always strike a cord somewhere is still amazing. John gives an account of the two disciples whom Mary met, Peter and ‘the disciple whom Jesus loved’. Thus, leaving room to ask this question ‘were the others not loved by Jesus?’
The truth is they all were, but John interpreted this love differently – In his eyes, he believed it this way ‘I am loved’ and he didn’t wait for anyone to help make this deduction with him. He experienced it for himself and personally came to the conclusion that he was loved. Now, we may see this as a competition for some of the love of God between the disciples – but if there is something recent lectures have thought me, it is the reality that ‘GOD IS ALWAYS ALL’.
For every single person, He loves completely and is fully present. He does not have to be present in part nor love in part, so there is absolutely no competition for his love. My dear, once you want it, you get it ALL wherever and whenever. Just as John can personally refer to himself as ‘the disciple Jesus loved’, sorry to disappoint you but I have to say this for me, ‘I AM LOVED PERSONALLY’. I know you are loved but you have to say so yourself.
Remember # God is always ALL.
