DON’T ALWAYS RUN AWAY

Reference text: Luke 20:27-40

Luke 20:33 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.

I would give a standing ovation to the Sadducees today… I mean what devotion and effort did it require for them to come up with such an extraordinary scenario for Jesus to address. As I looked at their creative piece, the question that came to mind: ‘How well could we be doing if we showed such enthusiasm in our endeavours?

For the Pharisees and Sadducees, Jesus was seen as’ ‘THE’ hurdle they needed to overcome. Hence, they threw everything they had at Him in their bid to knock him over. In fact, had their target been anybody else but Jesus, they certainly will have had him pinned down with their latest ‘work of genius’. And for me, today just reinforces the amount of effort they were willing to expend to get their man.

Often, it appears the easiest thing to do is to pack up and leave in the face of certain difficulties. Once a seemingly unsurmountable hurdle comes our way, we don’t even TRY anymore. We may refer to the Pharisees and Sadducees as the ‘bad guys’, but even those bad guys teach us a lesson many take for granted- pressing positively forward towards a purpose amidst all possible setbacks.

Remember # running away is never always the answer.
