Daniel 9:10 Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.
Of the many traits a man can have, one that many women seem to appreciate is a ‘man who listens’. Listening therefore is paramount to successfully maintaining any relationship and keeping them at levels that are praiseworthy.
Daniel in his prayer for mercy tells God that ‘they have neither listened to nor obeyed the voice of the Lord’. Their reason was because they felt abandoned owing to the fact that they had been dispersed to many parts of the earth. This text aligns practically with a teaching I heard last night :’ when circumstances change, we choose when to listen and when not to’.
The very fact that Israel was still in exile beyond the prophesied 400 years by another 30 was because they were no longer listening or paying any attention. They were so blinded by their condition that they were completely out of sync with God hence did not know which direction to take.
It takes a group of people who are in touch to stay on course and not stray. It is also not enough to just listen, we ought to do ‘whatever God tells us’ regardless of how seemingly unnecessary it may appear. That’s how it works.
Remember # when it comes to God, ‘listening to Him is not an option, it is compulsory’.
