Mark 2:23 And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn.
The text for this morning is an extract from one of Jesus’ encounter with the Pharisees as He journeyed with his disciples. As characteristic of them, these Pharisees lodged a complaint to which Jesus responded accordingly.
In summary, their complaint could be put as ‘why are disciples plucking ears of corn on the sabbath?’ Two significant pictures are evident in this text which introduces a whole new dimension: the corn field and the presence of Jesus- representing an opportunity identified with Jesus present. What would appear strange would have been for these disciples to emerge out of the corn fields only to complain of hunger.
Beloved, our walk with Jesus is a unique journey which affords us the privilege of taking advantage of His identity. The truth is because we never walk alone, some ‘normal’ restrictions do not apply to us. Where others can neither dare to approach nor dream of treading, His access causes us to enter without hindrances.
You may not have begun taking advantage of this aspect of your relationship with the Lord, but today, he wants you to know about it. This is so you can make use of all that He has for you to get you where He wants you to be.
Remember# Take advantage of the unlimited access available to you because you have Jesus.
