SETTLE IT IN YOUR MIND

Psalm 112:7 He does not fear bad news [evil report, a report of disasters] nor live in dread of what may happen. For he is settled in his mind that Jehovah will take care of him [his heart is confident, trusting in the LORD].

Whenever an individual is driving to an unknown destination, they are cautious and therefore their eyes may wander. However, the very moment they are locked in on the destination, their focus is singular. That is the image the Psalmist paints today in describing ‘the righteous’ – he is settled in his mind that God will take care of him.

St Paul used a different set of words to paint a similar picture in Romans 8:38 “for I am persuaded” and 2nd Timothy 1:12 I am persuaded [beyond any doubt] that He is able to guard that which I have entrusted to Him until that day [when I stand before Him].

Beloved, you have to be convinced, not emotionally, but logically and factually that God has got your back. But first, it has to be settled in your mind – beyond any doubt, where your faith finds a resting place and no other argument is needed. When you arrive at this point of single minded persuasion, then you have found a firm anchorage in God.
