ARE YOU IN THE GOOD FIGHT?

A fight refers to a physical, verbal, or conceptual struggle, conflict, or contest. We can read through the Pauline epistles and not once do we hear of the use of his fists. But don’t be deceived, this does not mean he did not fight.Ā

In today’s text, he summarizes his battles in three statements: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”(2 Timothy 4:7). Littered in his letters, are the templates he followed in the lead up to this conclusion.

1 Corinthians 9:6 “Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air”
Acts 20:24 But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.
1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made the good confession before many witnesses

What have you fought? What have you fought for? How have you fought and Why did you fight? What have you lost in those fights? Were you fighting the good fight?

These are the questions arising from today’s discourse. Ponder on them.
