BECAUSE GOD SAID SO

Reference text: Luke 17:11-19

The ten lepers described in the Gospel text were something else. A careful look at this story and you would see extreme boldness, and would they not? For context, even in contacting Jesus, they maintained their distance and shouted out for mercy. So when we see them set off immediately after the words ‘go and show yourself to the priests’, you could tell they were on to something.

Their healing does not happen until they are on their way, and I dare not even ponder on what was going on through their minds. The constant conflict either  to fix their gaze on their visible leprosy or on the expectation of receiving an all clear from the priests. Even the thought of the question ‘on what basis are you going to the priests?’

I don’t think the answer “because Jesus said so” would have been a very convincing one. But you know what, we dare to use the same answer even today: “because Jesus said so”. Whenever you make declarations such as ‘I will live to declare the glory of God, everything my hand does prospers, I am blessed indeed, I am the head and not the tail, I am healed’ – these have nothing to do with you, it is because He said so.

I don’t know what you are seeking but has God said so? If yes, then you can lay hold of it and start running even though there may be no visible signs of progress. The assurance of completion lies in the integrity of His word “He has said it, and He will do it!”
