DON’T SAY YES TO EVERY “GOOD” THING

Exodus 32:9-10 God said to Moses, “I look at this people—oh! what a stubborn, hard-headed people! Let me alone now, give my anger free reign to burst into flames and incinerate them. But I’ll make a great nation out of you.”

Moses was offered the ‘chance of a lifetime’ if we really consider what happened. He was given the opportunity to become the centre piece of God’s dealings in that age, and that seemed a good offer. Truth be told, if such an offer was made to us, we would be encouraged at least consider it.

The question arising from this encounter with Moses is therefore to ponder on the stance we take when opportunities are presented to us. Whether Moses was being tested, or God meant His words literally, “do we know how to say no even to good things”

Here are some thoughts:

Just because something looks good, does not mean it is to be embraced. A bait looks good, but only until the hook it hides locks into place.

Saying no then to good things can be hard, but we ought to add that skill set to our collection because “not every good thing is for us, to embrace”, no matter how well packaged.
