A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY

Luke 17:1a Jesus said to His disciples, “Stumbling blocks [temptations and traps set to lure one to sin] are sure to come [inevitable]

Recently, I came across these words

Just because you can resist the devil, doesn’t mean you should hang out with him. If you don’t want temptation to follow you, don’t act like you are interested. It’s easier to avoid temptation than to resist it.’

There are moments in our lives when in our excitement, we feel impenetrable. We walk as though we are fortified inside a bunker, resistant to all things including nuclear blasts. We tend to feel confident running towards temptation and dinning with it, oblivious of the fact that we have walked right into a trap.

The trap of a false sense of security, a sense of I am strong enough to withstand. There are many stumbling blocks which the only way out is to avoid them. Once noticed, your best choice of escape is to turn the opposite way and walk.

Don’t deceive yourself into thinking that sitting at the same table as any temptation is the way to go, you may not even know when, and and how you fell.
