BECOME A REFLECTION OF JESUS

42/366

When a person claims to be ‘a master or expert at something’, they could ask any of their students to watch them do something, and imitate. In other words, they have so grasped the foundations of what they have mastered that it is safe to mirror what they do to grasp what they also know . Paul’s letter today follows long those lines when he wrote the words ‘Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ (1 Cor 11:1).

He was saying ‘I have imitated and modelled my life using Christ as a template. If you cannot see Christ, you can look at me because I will keep my eyes on Christ’. For some, it might appear Paul is becoming a middleman between his audience and Jesus, but we have to look further.

There are those who may not have had the opportunity to hear or know Christ, however even for them, there has to be an avenue for them to see in others, an assembly of traits that points to a superior template of living. Not that their gaze becomes fixed on men, but that until they come to know Jesus for themselves, worthy vessels reflecting Him will be their examples.

Without saying anything, your life is a very loud Gospel message, so let Christ be revealed through it.
