PROMISES TO BE FULFILLED

DAY 33/366

Luke 2:26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

In our Gospel today, we read about Simeon and Anna, two prophets who spoke upon Jesus at His presentation in the temple. Our lens is focused particular on Simeon for this discussion as we consider what it means for God to fulfill a promise.

Simeon had received express guarantee that until his eyes saw the Lord’s Christ, even death, the way all the living must go, was on hold. As long as this promise of God to him, was yet to be fulfilled, he was going to live. Unlike Abraham who died in faith, without living to see the promise of generations as the sands of the shore or the stars of heaven, for Simeon, he was to see it in his lifetime.

Simon’s eyes were glued to that promise until it’s fulfillment. So you also can receive the very same words as your guarantee, “as long as you have your eyes fixed on the promise of God spoken to you, you will not die until it is fulfilled’. You will not die, but live to declare what the Lord has done. All the  arsenals of the enemy can be amassed to derail that promise, but if God said it, and you have received it, you can await its fulfillment in your lifetime.
