Reading this means you have crossed the threshold into the new year. Praise the Lord. As we begin the year, here are some minibites to start with:
1. A new year suggests new things, but don’t throw away proven patterns of victory.
This is the first lesson to think about even as we begin the year, the tendency to leave things behind to begin our focus on new things. Things that weren’t completed in the year before, strategies that yielded great results and habits that shaped oue year in a positive way should not be discarded. By all means don’t stay in the past, but until you receive or identify a more suitable strategy, don’t just leave what has worked.
2. Set an end point from the start
I know resolutions may sound like clichĂ©s, but write some down, even if it is just one. It will serve as a compass as you journey along and be a measure to gauge progress against. Don’t just waltz your way through the year expecting ‘anything’, otherwise it may be difficult to describe the year at it the end.
3. Make up your mind that you have a marathon to run, not a sprint.
You need to prepare to endure another 366 day year. Your stamina will be tested on all fronts: your patience, your trust in God, as well as your gifts and abilities. You need to build capacity to stay in the fight till the end through study of the Word of God and materials for your professional growth, prayer, and through relationships. For if you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small (Prov 24:10).
I pray you receive enabling grace to make this year all that God desires it to be. Happy new year beloved.
