WHAT DO YOU THINK?

DAY 346

Matthew 18:12 What do you think? If a shepherd has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray?

I am unsure how the disciples felt in this instance before Jesus, but four words in that verse keps ringing in my head ‘what do you think think? This in many ways sounded like a trick question, seeking to probe one’s mind in isolation. However, this was deeper than that and was actually a question exploring the foundations of thinking.

Jesus’ search for opinions was build on the premise that opinions do not simply emerge out of thin air. They re the product or ones knowledge, periods of reflecting on that knowledge and the deep seated convictions one has about things. Thus, although there are external agencies influencing them, opinions are born more out of an internal place than an external one.

Regardless of depth, the information available to you will shape your responses to many matters of life. Even what seem like your opinions, have an originating point.
