BY THEIR FRUITS

DAY 345

Luke 5:21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

The scribes and Pharisees were synonymous with one thing: the law. This was a central theme wherever anyone met them. Hence, this is a recurring feature such that whenever they engaged with Jesus on a matter, you could be sure that their knowledge of the law would form part of the conversation. Such was their dogged consistency and fruit bearing in that regard.

One always had enough evidence to buttress an argument that these scribes and Pharisees had sat and learnt under a specific curriculum. Their fruits shouted that reality. What then about us who have sat under the ministry of the Word and the Holy Spirit? Does anything in particular stand out about you, or are you so blended in with the crowd that no one can tell any discernable difference?

After an initial encounter with the unlearned Apostles, their listeners knew they had been with Jesus(Acts 4:13). Would our hearers and those who know us dare to say the same? This isn’t a call to self pity or condemnation, it is rather an invitation to clearly show where you stand and for whom you stand .

‘By their fruits, you shall know them'(Mt 7:20). So let your fruits reveal that you have Jesus, and thus point others to Him.
