DAY 254

Luke 6:8 Jesus knew their thoughts, so he said to the man with the withered hand, “Get up and stand in front of everyone.” He got up and stood there.
The Greek root word from which ‘knew’ is translated in today’s text, is the same from which Luke 12:30 is translated ‘For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things’.
Thus, our attention is drawn to a higher level of information or intelligence that clearly gives its wielder an advantage. Imagine what it would be like if you could discern, perceive or very literally, know what was in the heart of others? What difference would that make to your dealings with God or with men?
‘The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God‘(1 Cor 2:10) and so He knows the very heart of the father. That is the advantage of journeying with the Holy Spirit gives us in our relationship with God because armed with these depths, we can please God and touch His heart.
With men, this level of accuracy in knowing hearts and thoughts, similar to ‘reading the room’; gives an edge in your sayings and doings. It will be a regulator of your actions and equally guide your speakings: whether to withhold your tongue, or use a different selection of words.
