BREAKING NETS AND SINKING BOATS

DAY 250

Luke  5:5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

Peter was not inexperienced in his job, in fact, the opposite was true: he had been fishing all his life and so he knew what he was telling Jesus  when he said ‘we have toiled all night and caught nothing’.

They had used all their techniques and knowhow, all the strategies they knew to attract fish to a boat had been deployed but they had nothing to show for it. However, at his word, we see ‘breaking nets and sinking boats‘ because of the abundance of fish that had been caught.

‘At your word, I will let down the nets’ was Peter’s obedience to the instructions that had been relayed By Jesus. His experience seemed not to matter because it had got him nowhere all night. We also, must diligently heed to the leading of the Holy Spirit and the voice of God. Often, our limited capacity as men is laid bare when our efforts are unfruitful. It takes His word to turn things around.

So beloved, has God told you anything or have you encountered any promise in his word? That is your cue to lay hold on it.
