CAN YOU SEE THE WIND?

DAY 220

Matthew 14:30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

In literal terms, you cannot see the wind. It’s starting point and end point cannot be determined. Therefore, Peter did not see the wind. What he perceived was the effect of the wind. He began to think of what he had been going through moments earlier and perhaps, added some spice to it: ‘I could be blown off course, I could sink, I could even lose my life’. That was him seeing the wind.

Moments before Jesus showed up, Peter had been in the boat with the other disciples feeling the brunt of the wind. So it isn’t that there was no wind. What we see is when Peter receive the command of Jesus to ‘come’, briefly, his physical senses of perception seemed to have been shut down.

However, from the moment he saw the wind, the words of Job became his reality ” For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me (Job 3:25).

The power of imagination is very strong: ‘Just as it could cause a man to dare to walk on water, it can cause that same man to start sinking.’ You have to engage your mind to be able to see the wind and whatever you associate with the wind, could become a reality. Thus, the question to ponder on is ‘what do you associate with the wind? Destruction? Fear? Flight? the presence of God? Lifting? or Elevation? What exactly do you see in  the wind?
