YOU DON’T HAVE IT ALL

DAY 130

Acts 15:2 And after Paul and Barnabas had a heated argument and debate with them, the brothers determined that Paul and Barnabas and some others of them should go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders concerning this issue.

When you want to create any team, you look for individuals who have certain characteristics that give an advantage. If you wanted to have a debating team comprising individuals who were experts of the law and understood Christianity thoroughly, Saint Paul would be a very decent candidate to have on your team.

Today, he teams up with Barnabas to take on a debate. Interestingly, with the degree of insight and revelation Paul had, we would have thought  he was adequate to settle this debate once and for all. However, the matter up for discussion required that an entourage of men, including Paul, go to Jerusalem to submit to the wisdom of the Apostles and elders of the church.

No matter how anointed, gifted or graced you are, God will not commit his whole counsel to you. We are privy to receiving the dimensions of knowledge and revelation that equip you to fulfil your calling and mandate in Christ. You can however receive whatever else has been deposited within the body of Christ through honour.

Any man to whom God commits all of himself, has become God too. That is why we are the body of Christ- to each He has committed a dimension and measure of His grace at work in our lives through our gifts and abilities.

We can’t have it all, but surely we can benefit from it all if we submit to, and honour the graces others carry within the body of Christ.
