DAY 95

I was quite intrigued to find the word “seek” quite ingrained into the fabric of today’s text. We all see Judas as the betrayer. In fact, unarguably, he will have a spot on the list of the most disliked characters in scripture. But today, he shows us he was actually a good student of Jesus. He learnt from Him.
When Judas was paid by the Chief Priests, we read “
And from that time on, he began seeking a favorable opportunity in order that he could betray him (Matthew 26:16).
Because there was no clear way, He went seeking. Yes, He resolved to identify a way to fulfil the full demands of his contract – ‘handing Jesus over’.
We will recall the teaching of Jesus in Matthew 7:7-8, ‘Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened’. Judas activated that very word and guess what, he found a way. His seeking yielded results.
Two lessons here:
The first is that not every opportunity will fall on your lap, there are many times when you have to seek out opportunity.
The second, the commitment of God to His is unchanging. Even when Jesus was at the negative end of that fulfilment, God had honoured His word when Judas engaged it.
You can therefore bank on His integrity.
