A TASK FOR YOU

DAY 31

Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

A number of other scripture verses sprung to mind immediately AFTER reading todays verse: 1 Peter 5:7 and Revelations 3:20. These verse say:
“cast all your burdens on Him for He cares affectionately for you” and “I stand at the door and knock if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him’.

There is a similarity that runs linearly through all the three verse above: “in this Kingdom, you have a part to play in getting things done”. We are to lay aside the weights, we are to cast our burdens, we are to open the door. Those are things are left in our domain – they are necessary tokens of our participation.

Interestingly, we have become a group of believers who tend to relinquish these roles to God for Him to execute n our behalf. Let’s establish as scripture says ‘Nothing is impossible for God’. Nonetheless, regardless of how much we surrender things to Him, there are some things left within the scope of actions expected from us.

So the weights will be there until YOU LAY them aside, the burdens will be borne until YOU opt to CAST them down and Jesus will remain knocking until YOU OPEN the door. The acts of  God for men are always preceded by the works of men, so let us know and effectively execute our part for only then are we in true partnership with God
