Mark 2:14 And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.
Jesus indeed found Levi sitting at the receipt of custom. That was his working office so we could say he was not idling. However, the invitation was thrown to him ‘follow me’ and he responded immediately.
Many of us are working in various roles and as far as we know, some would even go on to say they are even working for God. This might be true. But the sad reality is many of those working for God still need to respond to ‘FOLLOW ME”.
Here is the catch: you very easily find yourself busily WORKING FOR GOD, but not be WALKING WITH HIM. We identify the true “Doing” dimension of our journey with God by virtue of the proximity of our walk with Him. Remember Mary and Martha? Mary’s proximity to Jesus was deemed the better part when weighed against Martha’s doing (Luke 10:42)
