IGNORANCE DOES NOT CREATE EXEMPTIONS

291/365

There are many occasions when it feels like ‘I didn’t know’ should be a perfectly reasonable ‘get-out-of-jail- free’ card. We might think it would provide the appropriate exemption from punishment or consequences of action but in the eyes of the law, not knowing does not exempt you from the consequences that follow.

A classic example: not knowing about gravity does not mean that if you jumped from a 20 metre height, you will stay suspended. Unless you know of another law that overrides the laws of gravity, you will fall and break a few dozen bones in your body

The one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows.”(Luke 12:48a) Note: they did not go scot free, they still received beating, although lighter.

We are familiar with Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.”

It may seem to be a hustle when a message comes repeatedly ‘gain knowledge, read a bit more, study harder in your field.’ The reason is simple ‘there are dire costs for ignorance’. In this realm of man, true advantage comes with knowing – so those who know more, have a clear head start.

Beloved, even if you refuse to make choices because you do not know, your ignorance would have already made a choice for you and the consequences that correspond to those choices will be activated. So seek for and gain knowledge, with understanding.

God bless you
