GUARD THE DEPOSITS CAREFULLY

2 Timothy 1:14 Guard well the splendid, God-given ability you received as a gift from the Holy Spirit who lives within you

In one of the parables, Jesus teaches thus ‘when a strong man, armed, guards his house, his goods are safe (Luke 11:21). Entrusting means to put into someone’s care or in a more active sense, to assign responsibility for something to another. It is one of those privileges which God has given to men.

In taking that step, He committed many things to our trusteeship : our lives, our gifts, our relationships, the Gospel, among others. It is these precious treasures that Saint Paul reminds us ‘to carefully guard with the greatest care’.

The last thing to expect when you entrust is to return to find abuse and misuse. Yet, that appears to be the norm. Let us be challenged then to guard the deposits entrusted to us for we are not it’s owners, just it’s custodians.
