ARISE TO ARRIVE
Luke 1:39 Now at this time Mary arose and went in a hurry to the hill country, to a city of Judah
Heard this yesterday ‘The fulfilment of destiny is time bound’. Let’s therefore not play nice here and pretend we have all the time in the world because the truth is we don’t! You don’t and neither do I. We are here on a purpose driven assignment that is season bound and above all, time dependent that.
We read in Saint Luke’s Gospel today that ‘Mary arose with haste’. One word gets the limelight for our discourse: ‘arise’. The dictionary defines it as ‘to begin to occur or to exist’. Did this mean that until she arose, she was not existing?
Mary was, but certainly not noticed in every sphere her impact and presence was intended to reach. She had to meet Elizabeth for the children in their wombs to get acquainted and for that, she had to arise. In Isaiah 60:1, we read ‘Arise, shine for your light is come and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.’
Your part is ‘to arise’: to come into existence, to appear, to get up from sleeping or sitting.
The fulfilment of destiny is time bound. If you get too tired to arise, you will never arrive where you have to.
