ACKNOWLEDGE THE NEED
Matthew 9:12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.
There is always a caveat, a set of variables and reasons why anyone chooses to present themselves to a healthcare facility intending to see a physician. Perhaps, the sudden onset some new symptoms or signs that have persisted for a while. Even simply, the fact that an annual check up is due. Either way, the person attending first has to acknowledge that ‘all isn’t right with me’.
As much a physician may be willing to do something, a yes from the sick is a requirement. Therefore, the relationship between a physician and the sick is one that begins with the sick person acknowledging a need to see the physician.
Hence the requirements for salvation as Paul presents in Romans 10:10
“For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
That confession becomes the acknowledgement.
Acknowledgement then, is the initial driver of response. In whatever area of life, a clear acknowledgement of where there is a lack, a deficit or need for improvement is absolutely crucial for the appropriate response to be triggered. So I ask you ‘if you take a close look at your life, what do you need to acknowledge?’
The sooner this is done, the earlier an intervention can be mustered.
