REMAIN TEACHABLE

REMAIN TEACHABLE

Acts 18:26 When Priscilla and Aquila heard him preaching boldly in the synagogue, they took him aside and explained the way of God even more accurately.

There is an old quote that came to mind today:

“He who knows not,
and knows not that he knows not,
is a fool; shun him.

He who knows not,
and knows that he knows not,
is a student; Teach him.

He who knows,
and knows not that he knows,
is asleep; Wake him.

He who knows,
and knows that he knows,
is Wise; Follow him.”

The first step to filling any gaps in one’s learning, thinking or ideals, is to acknowledge that these gaps actually exist. Our spotlight today is on Aquilla, who falls into two of the four categories above because he had the boldness to teach confidently about the baptism of John which he knew and the teachability to also be taught more accurately on what he knew not about.

It can be challenging to get things past anyone who has no acknowledgement of a gap in their own thinking or knowing. Probably, that could be you reading. But beloved, until we come to terms with the reality that we are students, we cannot become teachable and we will miss out on many things. Let’s stay teachable.
