The book the kings is literally a book on royalty. It tells the story of men who had power over nations and territories; men at whose single command an entire nation were obliged to obey. It contains an account of individuals who wore their own crowns.

Yet, when Solomon stands before God, bearing in mind that even though He was still king, he laid aside his crown. He looked up to heaven and acknowledged majesty in the words ‘and he said: “LORD God of Israel, there is no God in heaven above or on earth below like You, who keep Your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts.’ (1 Kings 8:22)

We have truly been made kings and priests unto our God, but before the same God, we have to be prepared to lay down our crowns for our pride has no place in His presence.
